Antique Shell Objects
The French have collected the sea for centuries. Scallop shells carved into porcelain, mussels cast in brass, mother-of-pearl shaped into spoons and pill boxes small enough to keep in a pocket.
Every piece in this collection was found by hand at brocantes and flea markets around Alba-la-Romaine, in the South of France. Some were made for the dressing table, some for the writing desk, some for the dinner table. All of them still carry the shine and the small marks of a long life.
Each object is one of a kind. When it is gone, it is gone.
Caring for shell and mother-of-pearl: keep away from water and perfume, and wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
