Rare Antique White Cotton Capelet with Bobbin Lace Trim
Description
Features a delicate double-tiered gathered silhouette in fine white cotton, trimmed throughout with intricate hand-crafted bobbin lace along all edges and a matching lace band detail at the mid-cape. Fastens at the front with a white satin ribbon bow tie. Fully wearable and exceptionally well preserved for its age.
Approximate decade: 1890s–1910s (Late Victorian / Edwardian)
Collector's note: A rare surviving example of everyday Edwardian feminine outerwear. The quality of the hand-worked bobbin lace and the double-tiered construction suggest European — likely French or Belgian — origin. Highly collectible.
We recommend hand washing delicate antique textiles only and storing flat to preserve the lace structure. Antique/Vintage items usually show some signs of wear or fading.
